Donor FAQ

Q.     Who do I make my checks payable to?
A.     Please make your checks payable to “IVCF” or “InterVarsity”.  Send your first check in to InterVarsity in the enclosed business reply envelope, designated for __________.

Q.     How do I know that the gift will be credited to your account?
A.     After sending in your first gift, you will receive a receipt. On the receipt it will say “Thank you for your gift toward the ministry of ________.”

Q.     Are my gifts tax-deductible?
A.     Yes.  After each gift you will receive a tax deducible receipt with a record of your giving over the year.

Q.     Can I give electronically?
A.     Yes. There is a place on the return portion of your receipts to request information on direct transfers from your checking account  or you can go to     http://www.intervarsity.org/donate and utilize our secure site to sign up for Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or to download an application form.

Q.    What if I want to stop or change my electronic giving?
A.    Changes to electronic giving can be made at any time at http://www.intervarsity.org/donate or by calling 608-274-4823 Ext. 432 or emailing eft@ivcf.org.

Q.      Can I give by credit card?
A.      Yes.  Credit card donations may be made through our secure online site at  http://www.intervarsity.org/donate or by phoning 608-274-4823 Ext. 432.

Q.    Are there other ways I can give financially?
Visit http://www.intervarsity.org/plannedgiving or call 608-274-4823 ext. 391 to find out how you can give through appreciated securities, appreciated assets, retirement funds, life insurance funds, bequests or a donor-advised fund.  You can also find information there on Deferred and Charitable Gift Annuities, Charitable Remainder Unitrusts, Charitable Remainder Annuity Trusts, and Charitable Lead Trusts.

Q.     How often should I give?
A.     Some people give annual gifts, some quarterly gifts, some give on a monthly basis. The choice is yours.

Q.     What happens if I miss a month?
A.    It would be much appreciated if you could make up the missing gift the following month or whenever you are able.  Our fiscal year runs July 1 through June 30 so all gifts received during that period will apply to my budget for the current academic year.

Q.     How long of a commitment am I making?
A.     Again, the choice is yours. Some people make annual commitments; some commit to give as long as they are able. It is helpful if you can give for at least one year (as I have an annual budget). Every 1 to 2 years I will contact you to see if you are able to continue giving.

Q.     What should I do if I need to stop giving, or reduce the amount I give?
A.     Life changes. Jobs change. Priorities change. Please do not feel guilty if you need to change or discontinue your giving. It is really helpful if you can notify me if this is the case. That helps me as I make plans and as I adjust my budget.

Q.     How will I know what you are doing in your ministry?
A.     You will receive 5 or 6 Prayer Letters from me each year, with news of the ministry and current prayer requests. If you are interested you can also receive occasional e-mail updates.  Please feel free to contact me whenever you have any questions or concerns.
